Stylish - Impractical for day to day use

First this is a stunning watch- at first glance appears to be carved out of a single square chunk of black glass or obsidian. The front is crystal from edge to edge and no discernible markings are seen on the face.



The green LED dots seem to float deep within the face- kinda reminds me of a miniature black monolith from "2001 A Space Odyssey" reflecting stars.



Beyond the pleasing cosmetics the watch is impractical.



First it is not always on. To see the time one pushes the nub once to light the pleasant green LED dots. Press the nub again to show the date. So you can't just glance at the watch say as you're writing or driving to see the time; you need to press the button with your free hand.



After you press the button the time doesn't instantaneously show. First it lights up the outer ring of dots before indicating the time for what is a little less than a second delay. After maybe 2-3 seconds the display turns off.



2. Poor daytime visibility even worse in bright sunlight. Forget it if you wear sunglasses. The surface is highly polished and reflective so unless you look at the face straight on the mirror effect renders it unreadable.



If you can live with these limitations and plan to wear it afterdark it is indeed a very handsome timepiece.

Make a statement!

I love my new binary watch!! I have yet to wear it anywhere when I don't get a comment on it. The only drawback is that you do have to have two hands in order to use it - you can't just glance at it and see the time.



Also it takes a little time to get used to adding up the lights to get the time.

It appears that the sole purpose of this watch is to alert the world that you are a geek. Yup from across the room everyone will know that you are a geek.



But wait! That's not all. Say you are not in the same room as the world? Say you are in the basement of the science building or in the bedroom down the hall from your Mom?

Fun watch! A few kinks to work on...

I got this watch for my boyfriend for our anniversary and let me tell you HE LOVED IT!! There were different styles but this one fit him the best because of the sleekness of the watch it fits the young-adults crowd.



Now for the functionality. It's got little numbers at the bottom so it's great because it's like an accomplishment whenever he tells time! The only thing with the interface is that we wish that there was a feature of having the date as well which I'm sure wouldn't be that difficult to add in. Another kink was that the side dial gets stuck sometimes so it's basically not very sturdy. It's not a huge problem because it's easily fixable but it's a little troublesome.



We haven't put the waterproof capability to the test but with the leather-band he will probably be hesitant going to the pool with it.More detail ...
